Hi, I’m Ellie !
Welcome to MicrowavesRecipes, where I share quick, cozy, and flavorful recipes. If you love simple meals that feel comforting and delicious, you’ll feel right at home here.

I started this blog as a way to bring together two of my favorite things: tasty food and the joy of making it fast. What began with a late-night craving and a simple microwave experiment has turned into a passion for creating easy, no-fuss recipes that actually work. From fluffy mug cakes to quick savory dishes ready in minutes, my goal is to prove that great food doesn’t need fancy equipment or hours in the kitchen.
My Mission
My mission is to share approachable, flavor-packed recipes that anyone can make, whether you’re cooking with a microwave, a stovetop, or even a toaster oven. At MicrowavesRecipes, I want everyday cooking to feel less overwhelming and a lot more fun. My goal is to help you build confidence in the kitchen, one easy and satisfying dish at a time.
If there’s one thing I hope this blog inspires you to do, it’s to step into the kitchen with curiosity and cook more often, even if it’s just one small dish at a time. Whether you’re here to bring back your favorite comfort meals or finally try that recipe you saved on Pinterest months ago, I’ve got you covered.
I truly believe everyone can cook with confidence when they have the right guidance. That’s why I created the Everyday Kitchen Basics mini course, a friendly and straightforward introduction to building your kitchen skills. Inside, you’ll find the kind of tips I wish I had when I was still Googling “what does sauté mean” at midnight.
From choosing the right ingredients to understanding why recipes succeed (and why some flop in hilarious ways), this course is designed to help you feel a little braver, a little wiser, and a lot more joyful every time you cook.
Where did my love for food begin?
Honestly, it probably started somewhere between sneaking cookie dough from the bowl and begging my mom to let me stir just one more time.
My true love for making food came from my mom. She let me experiment in the kitchen before I could even reach the counter without a stool. With flour in my hair and measuring spoons scattered across the floor, those early kitchen adventures lit a spark in me that never went out.
In high school and through college, I worked as a barista at a cozy, locally owned café that transformed into a fine-dining spot on weekends. Surrounded by chefs, coffee lovers, and the joyful chaos of catering, I picked up skills and stories you won’t find in a cookbook. Many of the recipes and shortcuts I share today come from those long, laughter-filled shifts behind the counter.
Fast forward a decade, and here I am, living out my dream of developing recipes, writing, baking, and styling food photos. I still wear flour like it’s a fashion statement, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
When I’m not in the kitchen, I’m chasing my sweet toddler or convincing my husband to take care of the techy blog stuff. He swears bookkeeping builds character. He also taste-tests every recipe, does the dishes, and occasionally reminds me to write things down before I forget them. Teamwork at its finest.
How do I decide what to make?
The short answer is simple: I follow my cravings. If it sounds good, I’ll make it. If it involves chocolate, caramel, cream cheese, or cinnamon, chances are it’s already in the oven.
I’m the kind of cook who lets the seasons (and my snack mood) guide me. On a cold, rainy day you’ll probably find me baking something cozy, and on a sunny afternoon I’ll lean toward a no-bake treat or something fruity. Living in the Pacific Northwest means there’s plenty of cozy baking weather, and I happily lean into it.
Full disclosure: I can be a little lazy in the kitchen, and I love a good shortcut. That’s why most of the recipes you’ll find here are simple, don’t require fancy tools, and come together without a meltdown (yours or the batter’s).
I also can’t resist giving the classics a twist. Maybe it’s cardamom in banana bread or a little tahini in brownies. Playing with flavors keeps things fun, and if you’re into cozy cooking with a dash of curiosity, we’re going to get along just fine.
Now let me get a little mushy for a second.
This blog wouldn’t mean half as much without you here. Truly, thank you for stopping by, for reading, for trying the recipes, and for every sweet message or comment you’ve shared. I read them all (yes, even the ones about your cake sinking — I’ve been there) and they brighten my day more than you know.
So let’s keep cooking together, learning together, and making life just a little more delicious, one cozy recipe at a time.
Now grab your whisk and let’s make something amazing, shall we?
